Domaine De Belline

The Domaine is situated in Beaune in buildings full of history, dating from the 16th century. The winery name "Bellene" comes from the name of the city of Beaune. In the first century of our era, our town Beaune was called "Belena" referring to the God of the Sun "Belenos". Then the city’s name “Belena” changed into "Beaulne" and finally became Beaune. This shows our desire to make the Domaine de Bellene a reference in Burgundy wines. Nicolas POTEL bought the buildings in 2006 and it took two years to rehabilitate them for production. Our objective has always remained the same: acting on environmental preservation. We respected HQE (High Environmental Quality) standards to build our winery in order to be in line with our philosophy to exploit our wines. Also, we wanted to minimize the environmental impact of the renovation work in order to work in a vineyard respecting the environment. To do so, we used environmentally friendly materials, we hired local craftsmen and energy savings were our biggest concern throughout the whole project.
